Policy/Privacy Analyst - Moncton, NB or Halifax, NS

Location: Moncton, New Brunswick or Halifax, Nova Scotia

We are currently looking for a experienced Policy/Privacy Analyst to join our team.

As a key member of Mara’s Privacy Practice, you will have the opportunity to participate in projects in a wide range of related areas, such as: privacy impact assessments and gap analyses; privacy framework development; policy analysis and development; legislative analysis; risk assessments; business process and data flow analysis; and information security risk assessments.

As the ideal candidate, you understand privacy principles and practices, have a strong aptitude for policy and/or legislative analysis, and have successfully applied these skills to client assignments, particularly those in the public sector.  You have a strong interest and experience working in areas such as privacy, information security, risk, and/or policy management and bring a strong fundamental understanding of the underlying principles.

You have a proven reputation for adding value in these areas, and you are excited about the prospect of continuing to develop and apply your skills in a variety of client settings, working with other members of the Mara Team.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in privacy impact assessments or privacy or security risk assessments, working with members of the Mara and client teams;
  • Develop or analyze policies and legislation, in support of privacy and security deliverables;
  • Conduct business process and data flow analyses;
  • Develop privacy management or information security tools, frameworks, policies and processes for or in support of clients;
  • Conduct research and analysis in support of policy development or privacy or information security deliverables;
  • Collaborate professionally with other team members and client leaders; and
  • Lead or participate in client meetings, workshops, consultations.
  • Travel to client locations may be required within Atlantic Canada, with a primary focus on NB and NS.

The Experience you bring:

  • Minimum of five years of recent, relevant experience in a policy analyst, legal advisory, risk management, information management or privacy-related role;
  • Undergraduate degree in business administration, law, information management or related field or the equivalent combination of training and experience;
  • Experience developing and analyzing policies and/or legislation;
  • Understanding of risk management concepts including identification and assessment of risks and development of risk mitigation strategies;
  • Knowledge or prior experience working with provincial and/or federal privacy legislation or applying privacy principles and best practices;
  • Excellent written communication skills including report writing, presentations, policies, proposals, etc.;
  • Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills;
  • High level of attention to detail when appropriate, balanced with the ability to produce reports and other deliverables that clearly and effectively communicate top level findings to clients;
  • Strong consultative skills, including facilitation, issue identification and resolution, and problem solving;
  • Exemplary client service skills and proven client-focused approach;
  • Certification(s) in privacy, security, risk or information management would be considered an asset;
  • Bilingualism is considered an asset.

Business Analyst - Halifax, NS

We are currently looking for a Business Analyst to join our team.

In this role, you would work with our clients in understanding their business needs and help to develop digital solutions using user centred service design methods. We are looking for someone who has experience in delivering solutions and services following agile methodologies, exceeding clients’ expectations along the way.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with our clients on projects using agile methodologies and approaches;
  • Identify and analyze problems and issues that may affect the successful adoption of the solution or service;
  • Apply proven communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills to ensure that the team’s plans and objectives are achieved;
  • Analyze business requirements and user needs to agree on detailed functional and technical specifications and plans;
  • Gather and analyze data relating to the costs and benefits of solution delivery;
  • Participate and/or lead activities related to understanding user needs and forming solution definitions;
  • Document a common understanding of the users’ needs; and,
  • Clearly articulate concepts and ideas to all levels of the project team including clients, team members; and stakeholders.

The Experience you bring:

  • Experience working on projects with a focus on agile delivery methods;
  • Experience in communicating technical concepts to non-technical audiences;
  • An understanding of user centric design, digital transactions, security and privacy;
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and deal with ambiguity;
  • Strong verbal, written and visual communication skills that you can to tailor to the needs of the audience;
  • Strong consultative skills, including facilitation, issue identification and resolution, and problem solving;
  • Exemplary client service skills and ability to collaborate with people at all organizational levels; and,
  • Public sector experience would be considered an asset.

Project Manager - Halifax, NS

We are currently looking for a Project Manager to join our team.

In this role, you would be responsible for managing one or more projects to deliver a specific set of outcomes to our clients, often as part of a broader transformation effort.  We are looking for someone who has experience and has had success delivering digital projects and services in the past, exceeding clients’ expectations along the way.

You understand how do deliver projects following agile approaches and methods.  You have a proven reputation for leading a multidisciplinary team through the work to understand and define user needs, and then define and deliver a solution to meet those needs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work with our clients to manage the delivery of their projects using the appropriate agile project management methodologies, learning & iterating frequently;
  • Lead the work to develop a complete understanding of the users’ needs and champion and lead the delivery of the solution and service;
  • Set measurable goals and report against these to demonstrate progress against stated benefits;
  • Manage a multidisciplinary team in a matrix environment;
  • Lead a collaborative, dynamic planning process – prioritizing the work that needs to be done against the capacity and capability of the team;
  • Ensure the project and/or service meets a stated set of standards and principles that help to maximize value and prioritize good user experience;
  • Lead client meetings, workshops and consultations;
  • Address any issues or risks in a timely manner; and,
  • Effectively communicate and collaborate with clients, project team members and other stakeholders.

The Experience you bring:

  • Proven experience using a range of project management methods, with a focus on agile delivery methods;
  • Proven expertise in delivering digital services and projects;
  • Demonstrated ability to balance multiple priorities and deal with ambiguity;
  • Understanding of the digital landscape;
  • Experience in matrix-managing multi-disciplinary teams;
  • Strong verbal, written and visual communication skills that you are able to tailor to the needs of the audience;
  • Strong consultative skills, including facilitation, issue identification and resolution, and problem solving;
  • Exemplary client service skills and ability to collaborate with people at all organizational levels; and,
  • A PMP Designation would be considered an asset.
