Ruth Marks (She/Her), MER, CIPP/C

Ruth brings over 20 years of work experience, including over 10 years as a privacy professional to her role as a Privacy Consultant with Mara Consulting. While the first half of her career was focused on communications and public relations, Ruth made the move to privacy approximately a decade ago and has never looked back. 

A certified privacy professional, she brings unique insight to her position, including experience working for a crown agency and a privacy oversight body. Ruth is familiar with the challenges and opportunities faced by a wide range of entities, as well as the expectations of an oversight office. Throughout her career, she has provided privacy guidance and offered training on a variety of privacy related topics. While the health sector has figured prominently in her experience, Ruth has contributed to many privacy initiatives across a range of organizations, including privacy impact assessments, privacy management programs, and risk management and compliance initiatives. 

Ruth holds a Masters of Employment Relations, a CIPP/C certification, and a Certificate in Information Access and Protection of Privacy. When not at work, she enjoys travelling and spending time with family.
