Senior Privacy & Ethics Consultant

Angela has been providing strategic advice and innovative solutions for clients within public, healthcare and private sectors across Canada for over fifteen years. Her experience includes a small and medium enterprise privacy strategy for the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada, authoring public policy documents, including the review of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Personal Health Information Act, developing and implementing Canada’s first national privacy risk and compliance-based solution for the Public Health Agency of Canada, Privacy Impact Assessment’s (PIAs) and privacy policy development on various electronic health information solutions within Ontario, Nova Scotia and Newfoundland and Labrador. She has provided thought leadership and training on AI and data ethics and supported clients to foster ethics in AI, data and business. Angela has previously worked with clients to explore the opportunities to operationalize AI ethics (responsible AI) into projects, develop AI business cases and train AI and data analytics teams on AI governance. She is a former Director, Ethics, Privacy and Public Engagement where she led a team to provide access, privacy, (data) ethics, and engagement for e‑health across Newfoundland and Labrador and has an extensive background in health privacy across numerous consulting roles.

Angela teaches bioethics in the medical school at Memorial University in St. John’s and is an Interdisciplinary PhD Candidate in the Faculties of Medicine, Business & Engineering at Memorial University of Newfoundland. She is pursuing a PhD and research related to Ethics & Privacy of Artificial Intelligence. She also holds a Master of Health Ethics and a Graduate Diploma in Applied Ethics (Philosophy) and a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Memorial University of Newfoundland and is Prosci certified. Angela loves anything in the great outdoors. You’ll often find her with her children and two dogs hiking, running, camping or at the beach.
