Heather has 15 years of in-depth experience in developing privacy programs, assessing and managing risk, preparing Privacy Risk Assessments (PIAs), designing privacy policies, procedures, training programs and managing breach investigations. She has worked closely with senior leadership and executive teams in a variety of sectors, including energy, health, financial and retail to establish governance for privacy programs. Heather is focused on monitoring federal and provincial legislation, organizational policies, and privacy best practices to ensure her clients are compliant. She has extensive experience in the healthcare sector and understands the unique privacy considerations when managing Personal Health Information. She has provided privacy-related analysis and recommendations in support of the development of a provincial Electronic Health Record system, as well as many other mandated provincial eHealth projects.
Heather holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree from Memorial University. She is a Certified Information Privacy Professional, Canada (CIPP/C), Certified Information Privacy Manager (CIPM) and a Fellow of Information Privacy (FIP).
When Heather is not attending multiple sporting events cheering on her two teenage boys, she enjoys quiet time kayaking at her peaceful cabin on the pond.
