Michelle is a senior privacy consultant and Mara’s Privacy Practice Lead, with more than twenty years of experience in the public and private sectors, including seventeen years of privacy-related work experience.
Michelle’s start in the privacy field was a three-year stint in the Information Access and Privacy Unit with the Nova Scotia Department of Health. Starting as a Policy Analyst in 2003, she rose quickly to Acting Manager in two years, providing privacy thought leadership to senior management in the Department and privacy officers across district health authorities and provincial programs.
She has expertise in privacy law, legislative and business analysis, change management and stakeholder consultation. She has extensive knowledge and experience conducting privacy impact assessments (PIA), writing PIA reports, developing privacy and information management policies, engaging with stakeholders, identifying and mitigating risks, and collaborating with teams in multi-stakeholder organizations.
Michelle has a law degree and is certified in the Prosci change management methodology. She enjoys coaching and supporting her analyst and consultant colleagues who share her passion for privacy work. You might also see her on her paddleboard on one of our region’s beautiful lakes.
